Message from the 2020 WSEMA President

Fellow Emergency Managers,

2020 WSEMA Conference

As the 2020 Washington State Emergency Management Association (WSEMA) President, it is my pleasure to announce the 2020 WSEMA conference to take place on September 14-16 at the Northern Quest in Spokane!

2020 marks the 50 year anniversary of WSEMA and it would be a pleasure to have you join us at the conference this year to celebrate where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are going.  Our greatest strength as an association is the knowledge and experience of our members, so it only makes sense that you come and share your experiences and memories of our profession.

2020 LEPC/Tribal Conference

This year, the LEPC/Tribal Conference will directly follow the WSEMA Conference beginning at 1pm on Wednesday, September 16th.

This is also the time for you to renew or become a member of WSEMA.  You can do that by following this link:

We are in the process of updating our website but the dues will remain as they have in previous years, with the exception of 2019 when we waved all dues.

Membership dues are as follows:

Full Member – $80

Associate – $60

Student – $40

Lifetime – Designated to former WSEMA Presidents who have retired from the emergency management profession

YOU make WSEMA and so I encourage each of you to plug into the association.  Contact us here: or reach out to one of the board members for ways to connect and help in the organization.

I appreciate you and the work you do on a daily basis for the residents of Washington State.

Assistant Director

Message from the President

WSEMA Members,

As many of you are asking and wondering when the 2019 Membership Registration will be available, this notice is to let you know that for the 2019 calendar year the WSEMA Executive Board has determined to waive the dues. We will resume membership dues in 2020 (more information will follow on this at a later date).

We will not have “member” and “non-member” registration fees for the annual conference. Early bird pricing will still be available. You will receive a notification when the Conference Registration is open (we are very close to opening registration for the conference).

Please remember that ALL Executive Board Members volunteer their time to the Association, we need to thank them for all their hard work.

Presentation proposals may include engaging keynote proposals, lecture-based presentations, activity-based workshops, case studies, or panel discussions. Partners may also submit 10-15-minute ‘SnapShot’ presentations to provide quick insights on innovative and emerging topics in emergency management or offer to develop a poster that can be highlighted during breaks. Please indicate the type of presentation you propose in your submittal.

Important Guidelines:
▪ Any interested party including public, private, and community-based organizations may submit presentations.
Proposals from vendors or consultants are welcome but may not be used as a venue for marketing services or
demonstrating products.
▪ WSEMA is a non-profit organization and works to keep our conference rates low to maximize accessibility to
our membership and partners. For each presentation, registration and meals for the day of the presentation
will be provided by WSEMA.
▪ Before submitting a proposal, please obtain approval from your management to present at the conference in
the event you are selected.
